My wife and I are about to upgrade from an Aquarius 23 to a gorgeous 1979 Hunter 30 but the boat we are looking at is without cockpit cushions and without a cushion for the quarter berth. The current owners did without these amenities and suggested using the cabin cushions in a pinch but that is certainly not our first choice. Does anyone have a recomendation for cushions or where they can be found? We could go with a standard cushion of the same/similar dimensions but I am afaid they will impede the path of the traveler car. I have seen custom cushions on other H30's but I don't know if they were a factory option or an aftermarket product. The quarter berth cushion could be jury rigged even more easily but you know how great looking boats just have all the right touches. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

H30 cushions.

For cockpit cushions you could start by getting a quote right here on HOW. Go to the CHANDLERY, then COCKPIT. They also would not be difficult to make but you probably would not save much compared to TOPSIDERS. The q-berth cushion is probably a custom job. I know the one in my H37C is a really odd shape. But the previous owner reupholstered the entire boat so you know most local shops could handle it. Just get a nice thick foam if you plan to sleep there. I think you want 4" Open Cell foam. See the Sailrite site for some ideas. For more money you could get a real mattress. Several companies make custom fit boat mattresses.
