I will be installing a new Raymarine smart pilot X-5 wheel as a replacement for my old ST4000 that has given up , as parts are hard to find and I will be able to interface with my Garmin. any opinions good or bad ??? I know that the new X-5 is a direct replacement and I have read a few comments, but as they say more is better. sailor tested is the only true test of a product thanks to all for your imput======SEABEE1

When you do a dry fit of the wheel pilot, observe how the binnacle compass behaves. Close proximity to the wheel pilot motor may affect it. Other than that they are OK. Preferred, but lots more money, is below decks pilot. Good luck.
