HELP! I am trying to install an autopilot on my Oceanis 323. There is no room for the rudder position indicator sensor OR the electric drive motor and arm. Can a wheel driven autopilot be installed? If so, what are the specs? What brand? HELP!

Raymarine in mine
I have a hydraulic Raymarine autopilot that was installed by the dealer. The was the factory recommended installation at the time, and Beneteau evidently provided the necessary bracketry for the rudder position sensor ( mounted upside down intentionally). This setup was used because it was thought that the raymarine wheel unit would not work with the swinging wheel pedestal. I understand now that there is a way to adapt the wheel pilot to this.

Wheel Pilot
Got a Raymarine wheel pilot (st4000) on my 343. Needs some special bracket that mounts the wheel pilot motor on the axle of the wheel to deal with the pivoting whell issue. I think that's a Beneteau part.. check with them. Rudder position sensor is just forward of the quadrant in mny case. Dealer installed it but looks straightforward

Auto Helm Beneteau 323
Hi I am awaiting delivery of our new Beneteau 323 . Ordered it with the Autohelm as it has a Lift Keel and twin rudders . Looked at the wheel mounted one as a dealer fit but they said you need to carry spare parts incase you strip a gear . You also have to disengage the autopilot drive when you want the wheel back , this is how you strip the gears by forgetting . They modify the attatchment bracket to work with the rotating wheel . Thanks . Been a long wait . Launch date 11th August . Its horrible not having a boat to use but then its not stopped raining for 2 months :-( .. Happy Sailing
