What I made was very basic: I have taken a plate of 12 cms high and
adjusted the length to accommodate the name length.
In order to get some years use I have put epoxy resin on the mahogany
and some 5 layers of UV resistant varnish.
The actual letters are cut out of 3M foil by a sign maker and 9 cms
high. This was very cheap @ $ 12 / name /side.
Originally I was quoted $ 80 /side for bigger plastic letters on the
bow

On SB the plank sits over the diesel tank vent, so the planks are on
plastic washers (1 cm thick) and on the inside of the coaming there are
butterfly nuts. Watch out when you start drilling (as you see me doing
on the photos) that theres wiring for the stern light and diesel tubes
inside the coaming
