My ST400 went south today. I am pretty sure that a pin holding the pinion gear to the shaft sheared. The problem is that I can't figure how to get the wheel mounted unit apart. Is there anybody out there beside Raytheon that knows how this thing is assembled. Frustrated Frank

2 step program

1. Remove the allen screws from the rings. 2. Believe it or not, you can then just grab the two rings and pull them apart. Be careful thought, sometimes small parts will fall out.

Everything is easy if you know how...

One side has several little plastic wheels that ride in a grove in the other side. Look inside the split between the two. You should see a wheel. With a screwdriver stuck between the two halfs, gently lift up until the wheel comes out of the grove. Once the first is out, the rest come out easy. The early models had a plastic drive gear. Later models and replacements are metal.

Thanks

Just as you both said it is easy if you know how. Turned out to be the belt rather than the gear. I reckon Raytheon will sell me a new belt. They tend to have a pretty high opinion of their parts. Thanks again
