I just bought a 1991 Hunter 375 with an Autohelm 4000 and I want to connect a GPS & radar to it but need an Autohelm/Raytheon "Radio Navigation Interface (Cat. No. Z075-NMEA 180-182-183 format)" to make it work. Raytheon hasn't made the interfaces for years. Does anyone know where I could find one, or will I be buying a new autopilot?

some ideas

Steve, First try your local raytheon _repair_ center. They tend to have all sorts of old gear and often purposely stockpile things that are going out of production. If no one in your neck of the woods has any try Sawyer and Whitten, here in Portland. They have yet to let me down partswise. 207.879.4500 Justin - O'day Owner's Web

Maybe Raytheon can provide more information about this interface? Some of the interfaces listed are simply a cable with connectors on each end. If that's the case, it should be possible to pick up the connectors and make one. Success may be as close as RadioShack! Otherwise, how about checking it out from the GPS end. The manufacturers keep pretty good files on the equipment they interface with. Maybe Garmin, or Magellan, or whoever can be of some help. It's a pretty simple serial data connection, and you probably just want the GPS to talk to the autopilot which makes it even easier. Easy if you know the hookup, I guess. Ken S/V Wouff Hong
