I recently installed an Autohelm 4000 wheelpilot. The install went smooth as well as the calibration, but I am having a problem maintaining a steady course when under engine power with the RPM greater than 2500. If I motor less than 2500 it is rock steady. It will deviate back and force by 45 degrees and never settle down to a stable heading when greater than 2500 RPM. Is this prop wash causing this or is the autopilot at fault? I have this installed on a 1989 H30. Any comments appreciated.

Calibration

Have you adjusted the sensitivity of the unit? There is a menu item that adjusts sensitivity and helps to correct overshoot. Check the manual. I had the same problem until I reduced the sensitivity, now it tracks fine. Good luck

same problem

I have the exact same problem on a newly installe 4000 on a Hunter 280. I'll try and reduce the sensitivity. Let me know if you have solved the problem.
