Here's the age old question about Autohelm 3000: I have one that bench tests perfectly, needs a few miscellaneous parts, ie: U-bolts and insulators - for drive wheel install to steering, Clevis, Pedestal Mounting Bracket, Plastic Thrust Washer at the (eccentric) release lever. Could substitute and fabricate some of this, but it would look so much nicer to have the right parts.
How can I get these parts?
The former owner used it for 3 transatlantic x-ings on a 60' mason Ketch; upgraded because it did what most of them do - fall off under heavy stresses, but otherwise working fine when he changed it out. I think it would still be good for a smaller boat, especially in the light wind conditions for singlehanded sailing I have here.
Maybe the best thing to do is part it out, save my sheckles and buy a new one?? Or maybe someone has some spare part lying about??
Any ideas???
