Exposed belt is like a crank on your car
Exposed belts are a pain, you have a small enough cockpit as it is, which is good, so why clutter it up, the Autohelm and the Navico self contained units don't sell for that much more, remove the steering wheel knob pull the wheel and store the wheel with the autopilot as a single unit, down below, no belts, no controls, no motors to play with, no hassels.
