Auto Pilot problem

My Beneteau 37 is equipped with Simrad units using the SimNet system. The NSS8 is the center of the system and communicates with the Auto Pilot, IS20 wind and Speed and depth. The VHF is the R35. When working all units report accurate information and Auto Pilot works great. The GPS info stops and Auto Pilot stops working. Position and SOG is still reported on the NSS but SOG stops on IS20 , also the position on The VHF is gone. This happens at least once in a 5 hour sail. Charts and every thing continues to work on the NSS. There it is, Has anyone had a similar problem?

You should check the VHF software version. Look at its screen when you first turn it on. Older versions caused a lot of problems on the NMEA bus. The latest version is 2.91. See http://www.simrad-yachting.com/en-US/Support/Downloads/RS35-Software-Update/ for download.

Thanks, one of my next tests will be to disconnect the RS35 and see if the problem continues. Also will check downloads!

GOOD NEWS

I tried to update the RS35 using the NSS8 and the radio stopped functioning! I contacted Simrad and they replaced the radio and hand set, no charge. Of course the new radio has the new software. Installed yesterday and it seems to be working just fine. Here is the Good news the Auto Pilot worked all day without any temporary shut down! So thank .you Simrad for being a good Company to deal with. It took a while to run this all down, but I am a happy camper!

I go sailing for the peace, and then spend hours with various boxes beeping at me because they aren't happy about something! Turn it off. I got to admit when it all works it is pretty cool, but then some idiot updates the software and it begins anew.
