I have a Raymarine autopilot and it looks like lightning got it. :cussing: Where does the "brain" for this thing reside on your boat?

Mine (ST4000+) is on the instrument panel and the fluxgate is in the locker under the longer portion of the dinette seat. I have no idea if it was something that was put in by Catalina or by the PO so yours may be in a different spot. The fluxgate compass is a small black box and it should say Raymarine on it.

I installed an XP 5 last year and followed the advice received thru this forum: Fluxgate in port shelf in rear cabin facing aft, computer under chart table and control head on compass pedestal guard. All works well on the 'point and shoot' principle.
And I now have 3 compasses - all pointing in different directions. When I get my GPS, that will probably make it four directions.
