I'm pretty sure that's empty. Diesel is 7.3 pounds per gallon, plus 8.3 pounds per gallon of water, plus your anchor and rode, plus whatever options weigh like your electronics and possibly a generator or TV, etc... Most travel lifts have a hydraulic gauge that can measure actual weight of the vessel.
My 2008 38 has the Raymarine X10 autopilot. We had the dealer install it as part of the purchase and they spec'd the size unit. It handles the boat just fine

I am a huge fan of the CPT wheel pilot. It is strong and silent. Very low power draw. Jeff at CPT is awesome!!
I can post pictures and videos if you'd like. I single hand, and I use this all the time for tacking, too. It really helps so I can manage the sails. I have a legend 37.5.
