Dear fellow DS owners: I have a green 1976 DS II that has not been in the water for 20 years. ( Career, kids, yard work, motorboats, hunting, fishing, motorcycles, etc.) I'm determined that this year it is going to the lake. The only part that is needed is the auto bailer shut off ball. It was lost in the clean up process. I have considered another ball such as cork but have not found the correct size. I can screw down the plug and do without the auto bailer feature but would like to have it all working correctly. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, Fred B.

I have a ball

I have a ball for the DS II. It is metal and pitted. I removed it from my de Persia bailer last year because it didn't seem to be working. Used a shop vac to extricate it.) Without the ball, it seems to drain faster while underway. I am not sure if the metal ball was original equipment, but at any rate it is 3/4" diameter. I suspect a computer mouse ball, (although not metal) may be the same size. Give it a try if you have a spare one around. Otherwise check a machine shop and ask for a 3/4" ss bearing. Failing all that I could send you this one, but like I said, I don't think it works. I think it should float, in order to seal the drain from backfilling into the cockpit.

Thanks for bailer fix suggestion

The ball that I lost was a white plastic hollow one. Your resourseful idea of a computer mouse ball may be just the ticket. thanks again. Fred b.
