Reading the post about naming the boat after a visit to Austrailia got me to thinking. Might there be someone that owns a Hunter 260 down under that would be willing to trade boats for a couple of weeks with one in northeast Mississippi? With the differing seasons, it would be important to find a date that suits both parties for the best conditions. What say you?

Hi, Was thinking that you might be able to send your idea to one of the sailing clubs down under, I bet there are plenty of sailors that would be willing to try a boat swap, very clever idea, "good on ya mate" Try emailing Kingston Beach Sailing Club in Tasmania, maybe someone there might be interested or at least pass the idea around! Good luck mate! Anita

Have that email address???

Anita, I was hoping that perhaps there were folks in Austrailia that monitored this website as Hunter owners and might see my plea. If you have the email for the Tanzy yacht club, pass it along and I will send them an email with my idea. Obviously, many folks might think northeast Mississippi would have little to offer, but our lake, Bay Springs Lake, is on the Tenn-Tom waterway which connects to the Gulf of Mexico south and to the Tennessee river system, Ohio river, Mississippi river, all the way to the Great Lakes and even the river through Nashville Tennessee. PLUS.....Tupelo, Ms. is just 35 miles southwest and is the birthplace of Elvis Presley, king of rock and roll, offers lots of shopping and fun for little cost. The marina on Bay Springs is the friendliest spot you can find; just curious folks there that enjoy having visitors anytime. Maybe we should plan a get together for Hunter owners on Bay Springs this spring.

http://www.kbsc.org.au/ If this doesn't get you to the site just type in Kingston Beach Sailing Club, Tasmania Australia. Most of the people I sailed with have never heard of a Hunter, but they're keen to sail anything! LOL! Anita

An interesting idea indeed. I could be tempted in something like this. I only have a 240 however. Some good cruising areas which are lakes or protected waters include Sydney Harbour, Port Hacking, Lake Macquarie (our favourite), Port Stephens, Pittwater and the Myall Lakes. All are within 3 hours of our home. Obviously it would be best in our summer. The boat could be trailled to the cruising area and launched, and no car would be required by you. You could email me at davidsmith48@hotmail.com with your thoughts.
