My son has recently moved to Seattle, so my wife and I will be visiting him in mid June. I would like to do some dock walking and maybe even charter for a day if possible. If you are docked in the area, I would like to know where the marinas are and if there is a charter company in the area. Also locations for a day sail would be appreciated.

Largest Marina in the area is at Shilshole. See the link for a map and directions. There is a couple of outfits there that may offer daysailing rentals. Here's a link to one of them: http://www.windworkssailing.com/charter/charterbareboat.html As far as dock walking, expect that you will find a lot of security gates that may limit your ability to actually get onto a lot of docks - "J" dock at Shilshole is a notable exception. The area around Lake Union (connected via a lock system to Puget Sound) contains a number of smaller marinas - and the Center for Wooden Boats - which if you are interested in that kind of stuff - can be very interesting. Search for "Chandlers Cove" and you'll get very close. Have fun - it's a beautiful area! Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle
