Attention recent 310 owners...

I have a simple question regarding the shower sump pump. Is it not supposed to pump water out of the boat, rather than into the bilge. I used it the other day, and though the pump worked fine, when I checked the bilge, it was full of soapy water. The plumbing schematic in the owners manual is very confusing, and tells me nothing. Please advise.

Don't know about your C310, but my C320 pumps the shower water overboard through a thru hull that is mounted below the water line, under the head sink. You may want to check the C310 forum: http://www.catalina310.org/

Tim,The shower sump is indeed supposed to pump water outside the boat. The sump pumps out via the same thru-hull that the toilet pump gets its water. It's the thru-hull that is behind the access door on the side of the shower. There should be a 'T' in the line from that thru-hull- one of the lines goes to the toilet pump and the other is from the shower sump.

Tim, We have Hull #190 as a reference, as Catalina has made changes with Hull #'s. Our 310 uses the same pump to drain the refrigerator well and the shower sump. Selected by the "Y" valve under the galley sink. Both are located toward on the starboard wall where you will also find a line strainer and the pump. When draining the refrig I turn the shower pump on and use the circuit braker at the nav station to turn the pump on and off. When in the shower I do the reverse. The gray water outlet for both of these lines is above water line and overboard. You should not have soapy water in the bildge. Check the ouput line for a leak.

Though I have not fully resolved the issue, after evaluating my situation further, I do believe that the sump pump for the shower/refrig is working correctly. I am guessing that the soapy water may possibly be coming from the head assembly. The last time we used the shower, we did not "cover" the head and the toilet filled up with soapy water...no big deal, but I am guessing that one of the hoses which goes through the bulkhead may not be sealed to stop water from entering and going into the bilge. Just a guess at this point...still evaluating....thanks again for the input.
