I need help with how to attach my stay sail. I have a rear traveler and the front stay. About 8" behind the stay a post about 10" high exixts. I have a boom that is mounted on the deck and I can only guess that it was used to attach to the sail and the post in some manner. Does anyone recognize what I am attempting to describe and how to use it? Thanks, Dale

Dale, what to mean

when you say "boom is mounted on the deck" and where does the post exist from? Is the post affixed to the deck and sort of verticle? Can you figure out to attach the forward end of the boom to the post, as that is my rigging guess. I could describe my staysail setup (same boat) but it doesn't sound like this would help, as my boom rides on the inner stay and there is no post.

Come look at mine, if it helps

It sounds to me like your post is a device installed to hold the boom in place while not in use. I have a different setup. I am on Gate 8 at Marina Village, slip B23. If it will help, come by and take a look . My staysail is held down on the leading edge by a device attached to the forestay, and on the rear (when not in use) by a couple of carbiners spliced on a short piece of line... Mine hangs, while it sounds like yours rest on top of the post. I will be on the boat in about ten days, but feel free to look at it anytime if you think that might help.
