Hi, everyone, I bought a stainless steel outboard motor extention bracket from Hunter. Now, I am contemplating how to attach the thing. I purchased stainless hex bolts (two 5" and two 6") thinking I can put them through the motor mounting board, through the brackets, and then into the hull. But, I wonder if this is really the best way to do it. Should I use four sets of shorter bolts instead? By that I mean that I would not extend the bolts all the way through the brackets; I would use two short bolts to attach the bracket to the hull, then I would use two more sets with nuts to attach the motor mounting board to the bracket. What do you think about this? Which method shoud I use? Don Barber

The bracket on the H260

is made like you describe yours, but I don't know if they are just alike. These however are attached with four 3" bolts. Hope this helps, Joe C. in NC Windward Passage '01 H260

Thanks, Joe

I was able to install the extension bracket with 1 and 3 inch hex bolts. I just hope it is sturdy enough to support the 104 pound weight of the motor. We'll see. Thanks for your reply, Joe. I really appreciate it. Don Barber
