Attachment of CDI furler to H26

I recently purchased a H 26 that included a CDI Roller Furler system. However, I think some of the hardware required for mounting it may be missing. There is an L-shaped bracket that extends about 1 1/2 inches above the deck that is mounted beneath the bow chainplate. Can someone describe for me the components required for successfully mounting the furler on the H-26. CDI refers to a "pair of linkplates" in their literature, but there are no drawings or descriptions. Thanks very much. Don Barber, Redding, CA

Here's the skinny

Don, The forestay attaches to the padeye that is bolted to the top of the hull flange. To get the drum above the deck, there are two flat plates, about 1" X 8" X 3/16" thick (The dimensions are a guess) that are drilled every 1 inch. The two plates are held together with clevis pins at each end. One clevis pin goes through the padeye on the deck, the other end attaches to the bottom of the furler drum. The link plates look like the chain plates on page 490 of the West Marine Catalog. Mike Pajewski

One more thing.

The forestay needs to be shortened to make up the distance of the link plates. If you have the instructions from CDI they should give you specifics on this. The Hunter 26 has a special kit assigned to it by CDI. I am not sure of the designation but it ends, I believe, with an H. Bob s/v "Gravyboat"

One more thing...

I have the same set-up with the chain plates, however there was a little rotation in the whole rig when using the furler. I added a SS nut, bolt and washers in the middle of the perforated chain plate to draw them together somewhat. This prevented the chain plates from rotating as much because they were clamped tigher around the pad eye and the loop on bottom of the drum. Make sure the CDI furler has the newer metal incased bearings and not the white UHMW solid disc bearing. They swap out very easily and boy what a difference in performance. CDI sold me direct of this part for about $85. "Festivity" H26 1996
