Does anyone know of a glue that will hold a foam backed interior material to a fiber glass hull? I recovered the interior with something like naugahide and foam a few years ago and it continues to pull loose. All of the glues to date have failed. John

MAY NOT STICK AGAIN

I know from working in a car upholstery shop that once the glue has failed nothing will get it to stick again. If a headliner falls, even if the foam is in good shape, it has to be replaced. You may want to try a commercial grade contact cement available at such a shop as a last ditch effort before replacing the material.

Spray contact cement.

John: Try some spray contact cement. As I remember the stuff is water proof. I think they carry it at Home Depot or Lowes. You may want to wipe down the fiberglass side with some type of solvent first to get a better bite.

3M Spray adhesive

I used the 3M Heavy Duty spray adhesive from Lowes. I did have to do some sanding to get a smoother surface and followed by cleaning thoroughly with a solvent. Very messy job, but it has held for about a year now.

Contact cement spray

I have used in the past spray grade contact cement with a red die in it. It is a professional product and is commoly used to install high pressure laminates to plywood for kitchen cabinets. It lasted me 10 years till I sold the boat and is probably still intact. Requires, compressor, hose, VOC mask, fresh air supply but it works great.

Lets hear it for Perfect Glue

Thanks for the help. I have tried heavy duty spray on glue without success. I posted a question on the web site of Perfect Glue, a manufacturer of several types of glue. They not only offered a solution but free glue! Here is the reponse they sent: sschwenke (CSR) 2004-02-20 13:37:57 Notes to Customer: Thanks for visiting our PERFECT GLUE website. Since PERFECT GLUE is a postage stamp-sized package, it would not be appropriate for your application. For the vinyl to foam, you should use a contact adhesive. For the foam to unfinished fiberglass, you may use Liquid Nails for Marble & Granite (LN-933). It is a polyurethane adhesive and good for solid surface bonding. This is a special order product, so you will not find it on a retailer's shelf at this time; however, I'd be happy to send you one complimentary cartridge if you will provide your full name and mailing address. Thank you. What a great Company!

Attaching vinyl liner to bulk head

In researching adhearing vinyl liner to the bulk head I was told by the Hunter Customer Service that they use "adhesive" glue that you use to put down vinyl flooring with. This can be brought at any large hardware store. My question is though is there an easy way to remove the foam from the bulk head? I have been told that you have to scape this off Is there product out there that will loosen this?
