I have a 1971, 22' Venture that needs a complete rewire badly. I am installing a new pannel and need to run new wiring both to and from it. My problem is that in some runs there is nothing for the new wire to attach to (painted, interior fiberglass). What is the best method for the wire attachment (inside a sheath) to the fiberglass? Where possible I will be routing it behind the panneling.

Do you have a piece of wood that runs where the rub rail is? Otherwise, run it in the bildge where you can. Another way is to gorilla glue it in hidden areas

My 72 has a fabric coated plywood trim piece that screws into the hull over the hull to deck seam, it runs from the v berth to under the cockpit. I tucked the wires in behind this and under the cockpit I used the little square plastic wire tie mounting points that have the 2 sided backing tape and just zip tied the wires it to those points. Not as clean as a dedicated wire run tube but it works.

Thanks Greg, MacDaddy and Timo42,
All good ideas. I'll let you know how they worked as soon as the snow melts here (in Sothern California!) and I do the work.
Tim, I thank you for your offer but don't feel I'll need them.

Novelman, All my wiring on my 23 runs up through the bilge and keel area. The only forward lights are the mast and the running lights that go up the head (brace ) above the keel bolts. I put in an "on off both" dial switch and a new circuit board and those are mounted on the mini bulkhead by the crank inside. The battery is directly behind them on the other side of the bulkhead. The motor wiring runs back underneath the cockpit along with the stern light.I have kept it simple, I still use battery lanterns . I had to replace everything when I bought the boat so I just replaced what was there ....good luck......Smitroe
