Joshua Bell played at L'Enfant Plaza

Metro station in Washington, DC a few months ago. It was done as an experiment to see if anyone would notice. A few turned their heads as the rushed to their offices but two people stopped as they actually thought he was very good but did not know who he was. He did not ride the Metro but went by taxi to protect his rare Stradivarius violin. Last night performance was excellent as it showed his ability. He is now in his early 40's but has been doing concert play since the age of 14. The only low in the program was the inclusion of Ravel's Bolero which I'm partial to. If you have not heard Joshua play try to catch an encore performance or get a CD of his music.

PVC enclosures?

Chuck, I'm not sure if I understand correctly what you did but speaker designers spend a lot of time and resources in designing speaker enclosures to enhance the sound quality of the speakers. The enclosures is what allows Bose speakers to get big sound out of small speakers. I would think that speaker installed inside a PVC coupling would sound flat but to be fair speaker sound in an open cockpit is a challange anyways. I have never had problems cutting holes in boats whether new or not to install speakers and other equipment. If I had no place to install speakers I would probably opt for a quality boom box with its enclosed speakers.
