I was looking at a thread where Alan mentioned in his reply that he wished there were more sailing related questions, so here goes:I just received my new asymmetrical with an ATN Sock and Tacker. I'm hoping a day will come when this bloody rain will stop and I'll have an opportunity to fly it but I may as well use the monsoon profitably, so I have a few questions re asymmetrical trim. I've been on other peoples boats when we've flown both symmetricals and asymmetricals but I've always had a "position" that involved only one responsibility. I've never had to run the whole show. In my research I've found bits and pieces of info here and there but never the concise, step by step process I'd like. There seems to be a lot more info re symmetricals. I realize the answers will be different for different points of sail and I know the sail is not designed for a straight downwind run. Here's my questions:What tack height am I looking for and how do I know when it's right? When trimming am I looking at the curl of the luff or the leach? Am I looking at the amount of curl, the position of the curl, or both?Should this sail be gybed between the luff and the forestay or outside the luff? I've read advocates of both. I think I'm leaning to outside.Looking forward to the answers to these questions and any other info anyone may be able to provide re asymmetricals.
