Asymmetrical Spinnaker - Outside Gybing

I have my asymmetrical spinnaker set up for outside gybing, no bowsprit. The lazy sheet runs in front of the spinnaker tack and often drops over the bow. Can anyone suggest how to prevent this? I see online that some folks have a length of batten sewn into the tack, acting as a hook for the sheet.
