Swivel Jack placement

Bought a new boat recently (Macgregor 22) and have it trailered in my drive way. My drive way is not straight forward and I end up doing a lot of fiddling around with the boat by hand after I get her off the car. The swivel jack has always seemed loosey goosey when I am rolling the boat in it. I took a closer look and noticed that at the point were it was originally attached the tongue is kind of uneven. So the swivel jack was hard to get to stay still. All this to ask, is it okay to install the swivel jack a bit astern of the tongue and off to the side as pictured? This the most forward place where I can get an even surface to attach to.

I don't see a problem... give it a try and if trailer feels unstable when you stand on the opposite beam then perhaps a heavy plate or thick piece of plywood under the wheel in the old position might solve the problem.

Most have them mounted there. They do make some heavier duty jacks. If you throw your OB on the transom it will really lighten the tongue. Kids and spouses thrown into the back of the boat work well too.

Great, thanks for the replies. I will go with it for the time being. Much appreciated.

That's where mine is mounted w/no problems but for moving around on the grass I bought a heavy duty trailer dolly from H.F.
