I purchased an Asymertical Spin for my 28.5 and need to know who is using an ajustable tack line and who has not and how these stack up?

A few things

The ASY for any boat is a blast to sail and so many people shy away from them. It is a matter of sailing 2 knots or 4 knots. We have a block that attaches to the tack snap shackle and have the line run aft to the cockpit. This does a few things it makes it easier to take down and we can adjust it to the wind conditions. Make the luff of the sail flatter will allow you to sail up wind. You just trim it like a monster head sail. With a 28.5 you need to join the 28.5 group I started on Yahoo groups. It is about 26 28.5 sailor all connected through a group. email me off site at cliffr@sbcglobal.net Cliff

I use a tackline

We have a cruising 'chute. We run a block attached to the toerail, and run the tackline back to the cockpit. We then have snatchblocks at the aft end of the toerail. We also use a sock to control the 'chute. Hope this helps

Tackline around the pulpit to the toerail

On our '77 h27. I can go forward and trim the tack by moving the snap shackle on the toe rail. This set-up works fine in cruising mode. I agree that it converts 2 knots to 4. another way to look at it is that in converts about 20% of our time under way from the engine to sailing during summers on Lake Erie. David Lady Lillie
