Asym equipment required - H280 and/or H29.5

I have a pretty good idea for rigging an asym for my 280 except for the installation of a winch or swivel cam cleat or ? for the spinnaker sheet. I've read of one instance where the sheets were led to the cabin top winches but that doesn't seem to be a good idea. Even the sailor who posted that was not too happy with the results. I'd have no issue with installing some lewmar 14's or 16's on the coaming but it looks like the angles are wrong for a sheet led thru a block attached to the stern rail loop then to a coaming winch as designed. The coaming winch looks fine for the standard genoa track installation at the forward section of the coaming. Winches are supposed to have ~ -10* or so of "lead" to prevent overwrapping and the angle of the coaming looks like it wouldn't support that (without a pad). Any thoughts or experience with this? 2 blocks are all you need

Attach them at the U-ring on the back rails. I keep my spin sheets deployed outside the rail.Also keep my tack line deployed with 4:1 purchase.Here’s an easy-to-make bowsprit, seats in the anchor locker.This will throw the spin ahead of the main, less blanketing.Tack line and 2 sheets permanently deployed for quick setup.(Note that the link here has 2 pages of pix and directions.)Typo correction: Eyelet should be 3/8 inch.

Deadline, how do you "hold" the sheets once they

run through the blocks? A horn cleat? Winch? Cam cleat? Your hand?

I guess I need to rephrase my question . . . .

For a 1996 Hunter 280; does the installation of a Lewmar 14/16 ST winch on the coaming have the proper geometry when a spinnaker sheet is run through a block attached to the stern rail loop?

Harken rail mount

Harken makes a rail mount for their blocks. This will allow you to mount the blocks in any position and be properly aligned with the winches. You won't be limited to just the stern rail loop locations. I hope this is the answer you are looking for.

Thanks Monty, that's the kind of info I need.

I've seen the rail mounts for blocks many times in the catalogs but it hadn't occured to me they'd be a good workaround. Costs a little more but at least I'd be assured it would work.
