Just picked up my new assymetrical cruising chute. Anyone out there have any ideas on the working load for a block at the bow roller? I plan on running the tack line back to the cockpit. The response I got from my sailmaker sounded a little like the lil johnson thread a while ago. "About that big". Thanks Bryce S/V spellbinder

I ran the tack line through a block on the anchor roller bail then back aft down the starboard side to the cockpit. I have had the chute up in some strong winds and put a lot of load on it over the last 3 years with no problems to the bow roller assembly. But I have had 2 other problems. Since I use a strap around the forestay to keep the chute's tack from oscillating, excesssive load once caused the roller furling foil to bend. Another time in the ICW, I sailed out from behind some 'high' shoreline and got hit by some 'big' gusts and blew out the chute. So I feel the bow roller can handle the load. Most of the things on a Hunter are big and stiff enough to handle the job. ;-)

which block are you using? I don't want to use anything too small, and hate to pay for overkill. Bryce
