My new 240 mast arrives tomorrow....and unlike when I tookownershipof my Hunter 240 three seasons ago...it comes as kit from US Spars.I have to attach the spreaders,re-rig the mast stays, with no guidelines available. The contact at US Spars has given me alot of helpful inbformation, but having never rigged a mast before,I could use some helpful hints about tightening the stys so that I doit correctly and not warp the mast or the boat.I had to disconnect the old stays (previous mast)to remove the mast from the river (snapped in half), so the old stays aren't correct in their adjustment anymore.Oh yeah...and since the mast raising supports have been disconnected (to remove the old mast)...I won't be putting them back on until AFTER the mast is raised...maladjusted supports can cause the mast to be damaged during its raising .So without the supports during the initial mast raising effort, shouldn't the stays be perfectly aligned..I will have three good sized guys helping raise it by hand ( on a non-windy day)Any suggestions, guidelines ,etc.
