in your Hunter 33"? I was going to install a Ruhl 750 in the low point of my bilge, but the Ruhl instructions state that there must be at least 2" of free space on either side of the pump. In the H 33', as the bilge comes to a point, that 2" space does not exist at the lowest point. If I put the pump further "up" the bilge, then I'm always carrying more water there than I want. Has anyone installed one of these pumps in the low area with success ? thanks, Jeff

size matters

You could always raise the pump a few inches if you don't care about residual water remaining after it pumps. We have a 2000gph Rule pump at the bottom of the bilge with essentially NO room on either side and haven't noticed any problems in many years of use so I'd say it doesn't matter. By the way, these pumps are rated at little or no head so for the typical pumping system with a 3+ ft head, the actual flow will be substantially reduced from that advertized -you may want to think bigger rather than be too concerned with space.
