My favorite.
Pangur, white Pangur,
How happy we are
Alone together, Scholar and cat.
Each has his own work to do daily;
For you it is hunting, for me, study.
Your shining eye watches the wall;
My feeble eye is fixed on a book.
You rejoice when your claws entrap a mouse;
I rejoice when my mind fathoms a problem.
Pleased with his own art
Neither hinders the other;
Thus we live ever
Without tedium and envy.
Pangur, white Pangur,
How happy we are,
Alone together, Scholar and cat.

Samuel Barber; w/ anonymous Irish poem of antiquity

As my dad always reminded me while growing up...the only good cat was a dead cat.

Our three families helped my grandma run her five stall barn milk farm that was located on the banks of Willapa River. One day my mom told me to go down to grandmas'; she had a chore for me. Off I went the short distance to see her. As I approached, grandma was holding a gunny sack with the top tied off. I was maybe six at the time and I could see things moving in the sack and some faint mewing.

In her usual stern German voice, she told me to go throw the sack in the river, but would not tell me what was in it. Approaching the river's edge, the mewing just got to me as I was unable to follow through with my instructions and walked back home, leaving the sack on the river bank. Grandma probably did the dirty deed. Cats seem to thrive around farms resulting in breeding machines.

I have other cat stories to tell another day that involves my grandma's farm, of course.

Ever notice that you never hear of Seeing eye cats ? SAR Cats ?
Selfish annoying things… annoying just like the audio on that video.

hmm.. have you ever heard chinese opera ?
I had the dubious "pleasure" of hearing it live. It was like cats being tortured.
