Are these blisters?

I found some blisters once - they could be "popped" with a screwdriver and liquid (water?) escaped from within. They were quite brittle and the same colour as the gelcoat..........

Hope yours are just blemishes - although they are not as big a problem as many seem to think.....

They are nothing for intents and puposes. they are water under the paint
and mabe water under the gelcoat they may even be in the surface of the
glass. just scrape them off smear a little epoxy over them after that
dry. paint the boat and put her back in the water. The glass in Vegas
is not of the quality that lets the blisters work there way through the
hull like on some cheaply built boats.Your boat is 30 or 40 years old
and if blistering was a real problem she was cancerouse looking blisters
way down deep in the glass. In a hundred years the pimples that you are
calling blisters may be 1/4 inch deep and that will be time enough to
worry about them a little. Sail on! Doug

Hi,
Thanks for the answers!

It's pretty much as I thought, but I felt I had to be sure before I continued :)

John,
I am taking off my bottom coating right now, I found the same looking spots in the existing coating. It looked to me as if the bottom coat which was over laid or the one under the coating I am removing had the problem. It looks as if four different bottom coatings where on this boat,, I just kept going till I found a sound base. I blocked or fair out the hull and it seems I was able to remove all the issues. Your spots look like what I removed, under the area of the spots ...the coating was spider web, as if the last bottom paint didn't bond to the old coating. I tried not to break through into the gel-coat. I am surprised how flat and smooth the hull feels and looks by getting almost 40 years of coatings off though. Sounds like you might be breaking out the sanding gear?
