The drain cock on my Aqua Lift muffler fell out during some rough seas and disappeared somewhere, not in the bilge though. 1984 C30, M25.
Do any of you know the size of that part?

Call Catalina Direct. They sell replacement mufflers and should know, maybe could even sell you one.

Mine did the same thing years ago. I think it's a 3/8" pipe thread. I just cut the tip off one of those tapered plugs you use for emergency stopping of leaks and screwed it in - works fine!

Ours was rusted out and leaking around the threads so I bought the one through CD. It is a slightly larger pipe thread, so you will have to get the appropriate drill bit and tap set. Easy to tap in fiberglass, however, I will say I had ours out on a bench, fully removed, after taking out the galley cabinetry.

On the other hand, if the threads are good, a new bronze nipple and mini ball valve of the original diameter would be much easier. I used 4200 as thread sealant thinking if it failed I would end up buying a whole new muffler next time.

Unfortunate that you used 4200. There are times you want to drain the muffler, particularly when you have starting difficulties and crank a lot; if the muffler fills up you can end up with water in the cylinders.

Better to leak a tiny bit, into the bilge, than to be unable to drain it.

No, I didn't plug the hole. I installed a new drain valve. It works just like it's supposed to. I just wanted to make note if one buys from CD, that what I received was a slightly larger valve that requires re-tapping the muffler. I used 4200 on the threads only.
