Do it by hand.
I have used Fleetwax for years with very good results. I follow the instructions on the can by applying with a damp sponge, and wiping off before it dries. This makes the job easier than holding a buffer against the hull. Remember that you need to clean the hull before waxing, otherwise you are just going to make the dirty parts shine. I use the Collonite Fiberglass Cleaner which is a liguid. You spread it on and let it dry for a moment, then wipe off. This is where I have used a buffer, but again, I find that hand buffing with a soft cloth is easier than holding an electric buffer up against the hull.Oh yes, I found a local auto parts store that sells the exact same marine fiberglass cleaner for a couple dollars less than the marina store. Collonite also sells a fiberglass cleaner for cars which is cheaper than for boats. I have no idea what the difference is, but they seem to work the same. Maybe the word "marine" is an excuse to charge more money. Ken Plame, S/V Libertyhttp://www.LakeOntarioSailing.com
