Today I bought a mushroom Apollo through hull fitting, part number 65-BN7-63 and an Apollo valve part number 78-256-10. I think the valve is and NPT thread but I cannot find on the web wether the through hull is a tapered thread or not. I bought these at West Marine. These parts are 1/2 in and are replacing the glassed in nipples that Catalina put in their early C27's. I will check with West marine but they usually look up the infor in the book and if it's not there they won't know. Anyone know of a source to find out what these are?

I looked the parts up under the Conbraco name and it looks like they are both NPT threads. Can someone confirm this? Mainsail?
All through hulls are NPS (straight) thread. Groco does sell some with a "combination" thread cut into them but this is a band aid to attempt to solve the thread mismatch.
I would advise using 3/4" as a minimum size for a valve on a thru-hull bit if you're going to all this work I'd do it right and used a flanged seacock or a Groco Flanged Adapter and a valve..

Mainsail, I was replacing the size that was there and that size doesn't come in a flanged seacock. I could go to a larger size. The two I'm replacing are for sink drains and ice box drain. Does that kind of an application require the flanged seacocks in your opinion?
1/2" is a size that was used in years past but the smallest now is 3/4" as far as I know and have seen.

Galley sink and icebox connected to the same thru hull. A separate thru hull for head sink.
I exchanged the 1/2 inch for the 3/4 including the flanged seacocks. There is a big difference in the weight of the flanged seacocks and the in-line valves.
