Well I finally figured out late this summer that my H26 isn't as much of a dog as I thought. I had installed an Apelco 365 fishfinder for depth, speed, temp, and log. The depth and temp are right on but after much checking with others, stopwatches, GPSs, etc I found the speed is WAAAY off. It reads less than half the real speed. I've tried to correct it by changing the settings but it maxes out at 125%. Has anyone else used Apelco? I might just have a bad transduc that I can get replaced or maybe they aren't designed for low speed readings like this. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim Covey s/v Wampeter

Where did you put your fishfinder?

Jim, Where did you install your fishfinder. I purchased a GARMIN GPS 125 GPS- Fish Finder and can't seem to pick a place to install it. I would like to be able to see it from the helm, but I am afraid of damaging it in the cockpit. I am open to suggestions. Mike Pajewski H26 "Loon"

Bulkhead mount

Mike, I mounted it on the port bulkhead as high as I could. The unit detaches easliy from the mount base so I store it below when not in use. I ran the power and transduc cables through the headliner of the aft berth, they exit right beside the stairs. I then have enough cable to lay it up and over the hatch board track. This seems to work pretty well, it is a little tight if someone wants to lounge against the bulkhead, but is possible. Jim

Apelco speed

If you have a speed wheel on the apelco, make sure it is positioned properly. I recently found that the wheel was installed where the round portion on the wheel was facing forward giving 1/2 the speed. By reversing the wheel so the flat portion is facing forward give me accurate readings.
