APC or UPC doyle spinnaker

*o I can't decide to go with the asymmetrical cruising spinaker or their utility power spinaker. I have a 100% jib on a roller furling. Which sail will be easiest to install and use. Which will round out my sailing needs the most. I don't use the jib halyard, since i have the roller furling, can I use that for the spinnaker halyard? I experience light air most of the time. How much trouble would it be to add the harken furler for the utility power spinnaker/UPC and keep the jib furler?

You can only use ....

....the jib halyard if you tack the spinnaker inside the headstay and you must inside jibe the chute. But your still going to face a chafe issue at the mast. Why wouldn't you want to do it right? Better to have a dedicated spinnaker halyard that works.

If it is not attached to the jib halyard?Alan is absolutely correct. The lead of the spinnaker halyard will chafe through a jib halyard in no time. A spinnaker halyard runs through a block on the masthead that is free to move to align with the lead of the spinnaker. A jib halyard runs through a sheave or pulley so is not able to align itself with the angle of the spinnaker.Unless of course on a Mac 26X the jib halyard is external and the masthead halyard block is mounted on a bail which allows it to swing freely.
