Places to visit...
Bob,We are a bit off-topic for this board ;D Things to do:1) As you drive along the Turnagain Arm, keep a lookout for the tidal bore. Stop at Bird Point - there is a timetable and an excellent lookout over the arm. It only happens twice a day, and is not always spectacular, but it is one of the few places in the world where you can see a bore.2) Just along the road is the town of Girdwood. Take the tram from the Lodge up Mt. Aleyeska - you may want to have lunch at the top.3) Further down the arm, stop at Portage, and (as I said above) make the trip through the 2.5 mile tunnel to Whittier. VERY worthwhile.4) In Seward, a fun (and surprisingly good) place to eat is "Cheap Beer - Lousy Food" salmon Bake at the start of the Exit Glacier Road as you enter town. We stayed at the Windsong Lodge, just up the road from there. While there, take a drive (and walk) up to the face of the Exit Glacier.5) Homer (and the Homer Spit in particular) is interesting if you are into halibut fishing. Anchor Point, just before Homer (most western point of the US highways) was interesting to me to see the launching of halibut fishing boats on an open beach using tractors. Wow, did those guys move boats!!Good luck with the charter.
