Anyone replaced their pinstripe?

In an effort to get a little more "curb appeal" I'm looking to replace the cabin top pinstriping. Note, cabin top, not boot/cove (already done).

On my boat this is a 2-color 1" wide tape, 1/4" grey, 5/16" white, 5/16" dark blue.

First question, does anyone have a source for replacement? I could not find here, and I could find nothing on all the usual boat/automotive places. In fact, it appears that dual-color tape > 1/2" wide is basically not available.

I found one place that will custom make me a roll, but ofc at 5x the price. Before I go that route, looking for options (again 1" total width dual color tape).

Second, recommendations for removing the 17 year old striping, its in pretty bad shape aka fragments. Anyone who's done this make any recommendations which technique worked the best? Eraser wheel, googone, acetone, alcohol?

Thanks

not sure you'll find multi color like that but there's a very large selection of vinyl striping tape available on Amazon. I've used it to re-pinstripe trailers as well as boot stripes with good success. As to removing your old ones, I assume it's on fiberglass? I use a hair drier to warm it up first and then use a single edge razor blade in a paint scraper handle. zips it right off.

Catalina Direct has multi-stripe tapes available. 50' Roll Sheer Stripe TapeSapphire Blue & Turquoise Of course, these match Catalinas and not Hunters.

This very site sells color matching hunter tape in single colors: Hunter sailboat striping decals
I always try and provide as much information in the initial post as possible to prevent people from trying to send me down paths I've already been down or to products that clearly don't match the description of what I'm looking for.

@flightlead404 - not sure what source for multi-color striping you found online, but I searched the same a year ago. I went with Unlimited Letters in Chicago, and it was pricey, but ultimately, I justified it to myself by getting top-shelf vinyl, perfectly spaced stripes, and easy application with a peel-back transfer.

Doesn't sound like you're even considering using separate rolls, and I'd advise to stay with looking for a multi-color/pre-spaced solution, it is the only way to get the spacing right.

Like any boat project, you can get (***Pick 2 max***)
- all the features / high quality
- budget friendly
- reasonable lead-time

I can recommend Unlimited Letters. They sent free color samples before quoting, communicated well with the quote/questions/follow-up, and they delivered my order with Great Quality and On-time... at a cost I could justify to have exactly what I wanted, though higher than I originally expected to pay.

Thanks marmalade

definitely not going to do multiple individual stripes, I'm no artist, I know it'll look like a drunk did it :)

yes, pick any 2 of {good, fast, cheap} is a pretty standard rule and definitely applies to {boats, airplanes, collector cars} (my hobbies)

I will get a quote from them also, thanks for the heads up

I removed my stripes last year. Used a razor blade stripper with plastic blades and a hair dryer. Used an eraser mounted in a drill to remove stubborn areas. Cleaned up residual adhesive with goo be gone & acetone. Compounded cabin sides with 3M heavy duty compound & polished with 3M finesse it. My stripes are just double 1/4” stripes, same color. Was able to order from Beneteau. Not a pleasant job!
