I hate the way the water filler is located on my 1981 Hunter 25. It is impossible to fill the tank without getting water in the locker/bilge etc. It is horizonal in the starboard locker. I am thinking of moving it to vertical in the cockpit sole. Anyone made a change to this design error? Thanks.

Why not just install a real deckfill?

It would be no harder than moving it anywhere else...you'd still have a drill a hole. You'd just put it where it makes some sense. 'Cuz a fill in the cockpit sole is still likely to put water in your bilge.

I don't understand?

I guess I don't understand. How would water in my cockpit get to my bilge? My cockpit has one large drain which goes overboard. Other than that it is completely sealed off from the rest of the boat. You could plug the drain and take a bath in the cockpit. I guess you are thinking of a different design?

Water fill in cockpit

Any time that you drill a hole in your boat, there is a chance that it could leak in the future. If you place the water fill in a location higher on the boat it will be easier to fill and have less of a chance of leaking. If your cockpit drain plugs up, the water fill will be under water and have a better chance of leaking into the rest of the boat. It might not happen this year or next, but maybe the year after that. Better safe than sorry. just my two cents. Dave

h 25 water fill

I use mine all the time. Put the hose in the hole, gently fill and yes I spill a little water in the bilge. Have a pump for that. Is this a boat or Chippendale? Regards, Jim
