Just checking to see if anyone has installed a hammock or airchair on their O'day.

If so, could you post a few pictures or mention where you hung it? I have a small O'day 22 and was wondering if this is possible with such a small boat.

All comments welcome!

I've run my hammock from the forstay and the boom, but its a 40' I've thought about running the boom out over the water and stringing the hammock from the end to the backstay, but I don't have much faith in my topping lift

We have used an ATN Tacker, it works great but I wouldn't buy one just for a hammock. Whatever you do, try to spread the load out over the sail if you have a furler. I was never very comfortable putting that much stress on such a small area on the headstay so our kids used the hammock mostly.

We rig the hammock between the mast and the outboard end of the spinnaker pole. You can set it up to whatever angle suits you for reading, sleeping, or sunning, and you can guy it off p/s more or less, as you wish, to benefit from the breeze or to adjust for sun glare or the view.

We use our whisker pole to support one end of the hammock and attach the other end to the mast/whisker pole attachment. Works great. Adjust the angle to suit your needs. Safe and robust. No fear of something giving way.

I led my spinny halyard forward, wrapped it around the furled sail, and attached a hammock to that, other end to the pole attachment on the mast. Seemed OK. I like a beanbag chair, too. Take out about 1/4 of the beans, makes it more shapeable.

Wow! Nice pictures!

What brand hammock/airchair would you recommend? Any that are functional, but still low-priced??
