Anyone in Charleston SC going to check out the Velux 5 Ocean

The Velux 5 Ocean race, Sprint 4, is ending in Charleston in 30 - 60 hours. Anyone in the area going to check out the finish and boats?

American Brad Van Liew is in 1st, CDN Derek Hatfield behind by only 156 nm and Brit Chris Stanmore-Major behind Brad by 294 nm. and this is after 21 days at sea from Uruguay.

And of course not a peep in the news. The guy kicks butt in all 4 legs so far and not a word. Pathetic.

Brad certainly has dominated all 4 legs. I'm amazed and impressed he can get so much more boat speed than the others. Although this leg, Derek kept the pressure on the entier race, only 160 - 200 behind the entire leg.

I really enjoyed Brad's description of rounding the Horn on the last leg: said he buried the bow up to the mast, then the rudders came out of the water and he lost steering. And then she fell over.

Just another day at sea . . .
