I will buy new or decent used conditioned ones. need 4 (2 front 2 rear)...
I once new someone, who new a guy, who legend has it, was so rich, he was able to buy an ALL NEW set of Yanmar 2GM20F engine mounts.

I try to watch mine like a hawk, keep them in sterile condition, and after 14 years and 1800 hours, are still solid and holding the alignment. I have adjusted a small amount upwards a few times over the years (one nut flat at a time) but nothing serious. The transmission flange and prop flange are slightly different diameters so radial alignment is done by feel as well as gently engaging the raised boss on the transmission side face to the depression on the prop flange face. Angular alignment has only changed slightly (0.002") once to date.

The only major alignment was done one year after buying the boat new and that was waaaaaaaay out both radially and angularly. Mind you, if you consider that the alignment was done before the boat ever saw water, it's a wonder the two flanges were even in the same compartment.

Speaking as a master of hindsight, I would think this is something that EVERY new boat should have done within the first year because the alignment is probably out by a mile.

WOW, Ralph.. a new one from the Yanmar folks is $148..
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :eek::eek::eek:.

One of Yanmar's most annoying habits is that they will not allow their dealers to sell to consumers outside of their dealer's boundaries.

This leaves suckers like me at the mercy of our local pirates who have a monopoly on Yanmar parts. Odd thing is that they are all within a dollar of each other :confused:. Can you spell p-r-i-c-e-f-i-x-i-n-g ? ? ? And I don't think Yanmar (Mack Boring) sells for one price to US markets and then double the price to Canadian markets.

Not a thing you can do about it. A few years ago, an investigation showed that US made cars sold in Canada are about 15-20% more expensive than the same car sold in the US. (this includes the exchange rate). We still pay 15-20% more for the same car.

Canadian marine retailers on this side of the border can blow it out their ear :eek:. ALL marine purchases I make over $50.00 are through American web sales and I've saved a fortune to date (and that saving includes shipping).

Sorry to tweak a nerve, Ralph.. I am fortunate that the Yanmar distributor for the south is about 10 miles from my slip.. and they are really good guys. The local yards add 20% or so if ya buy through them, but not double price.. Maybe a buddy in Bellingham Wa could meet you with a stash on board. ??

I've got to disguise my Canuck accent. Last time I enquired about a mixing elbow at a supplier in Seattle, I asked him to ship to Blaine, Washington where I have a mail box pick-up. This is how I purchase anything and everything marine related through the web. Said he couldn't ship and I'd have to pick it up direct. For that amount of money, I'll do it the next time I have something expensive to purchase for the engine.

I guess these guys get shot for selling to furners.

How do you know your engine is out of alignment? Unbolt the flange and see how much droop is there?
