So a few might remember my post about my strut snapping

As my luck seems to be so great as of late it looks like the prop spun and hit the strut and as a result half of it is missing....

The markings on the remaining section of prop are

Martec RH18DX15P11/4

Whilst its a long shot - if by chance anyone has a spare one (perhaps you upgraded to a folding) they are willing to sell I would love to hear about it.

I also have a call into Martec - hoping to hear back on monday.

Please keep the PM's coming all - it's greatly appreciated.

Some people are on the fence selling their spare - totally understandable after my run of luck! I really think it's a rare occurrence though (you can't all be as unlucky as me!!)

...might be to check with Minney's Marine Surplus here on the left coast. They have a huge selection of used props including folders if this might be the time. http://www.minneysyachtsurplus.com/

Keep me on the reserve list if nothing else shows up.

Thanks Rick!

I might be able to get a 3 blade - not sure on exact specs yet though or price. Would the pitch need to change moving from 2 to 3? I was going to put a call into martec on Monday and fire over these questions but would appreciate any and all advice.

I'm already hurting on the strut replacement + haulout (which now includes a bottom painting!) so not sure if folding is going to be possible - what are the benefits?

Will get on that link this afternoon - just sat on a plane right now waiting for takeoff!

Thanks again!

With a folder or featherer you will get materially improved light air performance and better pointing offset by some loss of backing thrust and maybe some added roughness. However, you are already spending a ton, and since the prop can be changed in the water another time, I don't think it's worth it now unless you find one used in good shape. A three blade will be sized differently from your two; Martek can provide the spec's.

Good luck and have a good flight.

I agree with Rick

I agree with Rick. If you can spring for the folding or feathering prop it would improve the light air performance. I've got the Maxprop and its very good backing with good reverse thrust and very little prop walk. From the look of the site that Rick posted you may be able to find what you need there but if not I'll still take the 2 blade with me on my trip and if you decide you can't find what you want on the site in a used prop and the Martec will take too long or be too expensive I can send it on to you.

If you are in Jupiter try Marine Liquidators in Ft Pierce, I was there the other day and they had a large number of props.

Can your prop be repaired ? On outboard props they only reuse the hub and replace the blades and it is. still cheaper than new prop in many cases.
We have an Autostream folding on our boat and find it works very well, stopping and reverse was much improved. Being able fine tune the prop pitch is another advantage. I think the fuel consumption goes up a bit.

I picked up a used Martek for our boat for $60 on the gear ads on this site.

Good luck, Bob

Hi Bob

Unable to repair it unfortunately - there is no blade as it went whilst underway, to create a new one is by all accounts not a possibility, if it was it be very expensive.

Will try where you suggested - 60$! what a great find!

Autostream is out of my budget at this point unfortunately
