Anyone familiar with the Edel 540s ?

Just bought a 87 Edel 540 , with little correct information about how the boat was set up.
so I have a few questions. And I’m having a hard time finding anything out.
Sure miss my Catalina’s .
what outboard is recommended ?
Mine with a beat up Honda 5hp 25” , it looks way too long for the shallow stern,
going To be buying a new motor.

Just looked up this boat on SPECs... Beamy little boat.. However, according to SPECs, they were last built in 1983..You might want to address this with the seller...

Yeah i noticed that before I bought it . According to someone on the facebook forum , there were some made into the late ‘80s in Canada . I haven’t got round to trying to cross chick the hull number yet.
Being made in France and Canada seems to be conflicting information .
just found out mine doesn’t have a back stay , and others do.

This link should be helpful: EDEL 5 (540/545) - sailboatdata It's interesting that the photo there shows a boat with no backstay and the drawing plan shows a backstay. In the Notes it outlines the history of the different builders - through the late 80's. Different builders perhaps had different rig setups.

Yes , I use sailboat data all the time . I’m very interested in different ratios on sailboats .
