In response to Lesley's unsupported statement that 'if we're crossing the Atlantic we need to get a bigger boat' I offered a detailed and I feel well substantiated argument as to why a Vega would easily cope with the trip and therefore we could continue cruising in Spring Fever. Apparently it's not a matter of substantiation, so we're buying a new boat!
As a result Spring Fever's about to go up for sale in Greece (North Ionian - though if someone wants her elsewhere, within a reasonable sailing range, we could deliver her easily enough..
She's a 1973/74 boat (Hull No' 1776), British Registered, with an original Volvo MD6A engine (a bit smokey/oil leaky, but starts first time, every time) and is well fitted for short or long-term for cruising (holding tank, additional water-tanks & batteries, over-specd rigging & anchors, solar panels and lots of other bells & whistles.
Price? It depends on where and when you'd like her, but for a quick sale here in the Ionian, we'd sell for £4000/€4500 - about the cost of a 2 or 3 week yacht charter around here, so if two or three of you buy her in partnership, you'll be sailing a 'free' boat before the end of next season.
