Bama Bound - Hi, Boyd Newman here. I have a 2003 Hunter 260 at Sunset Cay on Folly Beach that you're welcome to take a look at. Incidentally, I was just about to put it on the market, but had not yet pulled the trigger. I may can save you a trip out of state. Short version here - we purchased the boat in 2005 or so from Lake Kerr on the NC/VA line and she has spent the majority of her time in fresh water on Lake Keowee in the upstate of SC. Also, she's made multiple trips to the SC coast, the panhandle, and south Florida. Last spring, she came to Folly and stayed. Generally, she's in good condition. I have the factory trailer and a cruise air portable ac unit for the front hatch. The roller jib was replaced last year and the main is original. There's a Tohatsu 9.8 two stroke that has been very reliable. We just replaced the throttle and transmission cables. The bottom was painted this spring and has been cleaned monthly by a diver while at Folly. The boat was professionally detailed last summer and shows well. I believe the fuel capacity is 12 gallons, and while I've never done an actual fuel audit, the estimate in the previous post seems about right (the 4-stroke probably gets slightly better gas milage.) As far as taking the boat to the Bahamas, be advised the 260's are not really considered to be off-shore craft. That said, with the right weather window, the thought has crossed my mind as well. In any event, if your interested, or would just like to take a look, give me a shout or an email and we could make arrangements. (864) 270-7417.
