I have an ant infestation! I just bought a Widgeon that had been stored (covered) outside for almost 20 years. The boat is in great shape, but I discovered an ant colony had taken up residencey in the space between the hull and cockpit floor. So many that I could actually hear them crawling around inside one quiet evening in the garage. Total skeeve!! I am flushing the space out with water (Raid was my first line of defense) and the dead ants keep coming. Question: if they are carpenter ants (and they look like carpenter ants), is there ANYthing in there that they could have eaten? ANY exposed wood (other than the hatch covers, which are mark-free) at all? Any advice is appreciated.

Maybe a satellite nest in your Widgeon

Paul, you may have a satellite nest in your widgeon and the parent nest was in wood near where the previous owner had stored the boat such as a stump, log or lumber pile. I am unaware of wood inside my Widgeon. Keep flushing!
