Any thoughts on fastening to headliner?

The headliner on my '82 H-27 is hard plastic/fiberglass, and I assume its somewhat a Hunter standard feature. I want to use the headliner space to store my fishing rods and have some great overhead rodholders by Lee. I'm thinking of screws and epoxy to fasten these to the headliner....anybody done it or have experience fastening to the headliner? I live on it, so I may need to use more of this space in the future! IJ

One problem.

If like my '79 H37C the 12V wiring lives in there. If you can miss those wires when you drill the tiny pilot holes then you will be fine. The coring is thick and will hold well if not too much weight. I seal with 4200. I would not epoxy in case I wanted to remove it. I have several screws in my headliner, mainly to hold the velcro that the screens attach to. That glue never works. :) But my fishing rods are suspended from the handrails with those velcro straps.

Thanks Ed

Sounds like the same layout. I'll watch for wires! Normally I've bungeed stuff like fishing rods too, but I'm gonna live on her for a while, so I'm getting into serious storage.I think I'll go with screws though, I can see several spots for the rods....and a few weeks after I mount the holders something may make me want to move them. Thanks for sharing your experience. Jack
