I have an RV that has a really nice Norcold refrigerator/freezer and was thinking, Hey why not use this set up in a boat. My sailboat already has a propane system for the Stove/oven. A Norcold fridge has the option for 110Vac, 12vdc, and propane. I understand that while running one of these on propane it needs to be as level as possible or it will burn out the fluid in the thermal clouple. Running on 12vdc while sailing and then on propane when moored/anchored might be an interesting topic.

Either way it must be level

as I understand these things. The electric operation is just a different heat source. I would guess that it would not be very efficient even if it would work on 12 volts.

That's the way it used to be!!

Back in the 60s and 70s propane refrigeration was the way to go and it worked fine. But we were younger and less spoiled.
